FAQ & Technical Topics
| Q: What type of
electrical service should I install in my home for my Acom
amplifier to have sufficient electricity available? |
A: The
maximum current drawn by even the Acom 2000A amplifier is less than 15
Amperes, so you do not need more than a 15 Amp 240v circuit for any Acom
amplifier.
A 20 Amp circuit is not
required - but if you have a 20 Amp circuit, you may use it. There may be
some benefit of using a 20A circuit as it uses heavier wire (12 ga) and a
15A circuit requires slightly thinner wire (14 ga).
|
| Q: What type
of outlet should I have my electrician install?
|
| A:
|
With a 15 Amp
circuit, your electrician should install a Nema 6-15R receptacle.

| With a 20 Amp

Neither Acom nor Array Solutions supports these applications with the Acom
2000A, but we can tell you that users have reported that they have been
succesful in implementing them. As of 29 April, 2011, the Acom Director
application by M0YOM is a beta release that looks very promising and has a
very elegant interface.
