W8AV Triangle Array ControllerThis array will be about 1 db down from a full size 4 square and have about the same front to rear rejection.
W8AV Triangular Array controller by Array Solutions Triangle Array
fig 1 Triangle Array 80 meters The above three vertical triangular array is modeled with 30 radials under each antenna. The spacing of each vertical is .29 wavelengths from each other. The array is driven such that the maximum gain is off the "point" of the triangle. The following Plots (fig 2 and fig 3) for this array set up for a 90 degree delay between the front element referenced to the back two elements
fig 2
fig 3 The next set of plots is for the same array in fig 1 but using a delay of 115 degrees to the front element.
fig 4 using -115 degree phasing
fig 5 -115 degree phasing As can be seen the 115 degree phasing adds a little gain to the array at the sacrifice of some front to rear pattern. It also lowers the main lobe by 1 degree. The 90 degree pattern has tremendous front to rear pattern but slightly less gain. If you wish to model the antenna yourself and adjust the phasing to your liking here is the EZNEC 3 model: Triangle Array Model We are happy to build the unit with any delay you wish. Actually you can adjust the phase and magnitude of the elements yourself by building your own phase line and adjusting the tap on the large power splitting inductor inside.
