Passive Vertical Arrays - Using A StackMatch

Vertical arrays of 2 or three mono-band or multi-band verticals can be driven using the StackMatch for Verticals application note and the StackMatch product.

The array can consist of 2 or 3 elements spaced appropriately, and fed with .375 WL of coax.  By doing this any un-driven element(s) will become a reflector(s) due to the reactance of the transmission line.

Two elements can be driven together as well giving 6 directions in a triangular array for instance.  WX0B used to use an array of 3 80m dipoles pulled out from a single tower.  This was a very effective array. Now I use a W8AV all driven phased array using the same dipoles.  The Front to back is much better then the passive array as can be expected.

If the array is a dual band array for instance 160m and 80m there will be a need to switch into each feed line an additional length of feed line for the lower band.
