Array Solutions is on the way to Dayton, Ohio for the
2012 Hamvention!
While we know that we'll see many of you there, those of you in the USA who
cannot attend, can still take advantage of our traditional "Dayton Deal".
How do you do this? It's pretty easy. All you need to do is place your order
through our web page on May 18, 19, or 20 and say "Dayton Deal" in the
comment area of your order.
What do you get? You get free shipping on any purchase over $100 - same as
if you were at the show. This applies to the popular Rig Expert AA-30 and
AA-54 antenna analyzers or even for Orion and Prosistel rotators that cost a
small fortune to ship. It all ships for free for Dayton!
Remember, put "Dayton Deal" in the comment area of the order form and place
your order anytime on May 18, 19 or 20. If you're going to Dayton, you could
do this too and save yourself some time.
We're anticipating a large crowd to see all of the new products we're
showing including the new Acom 1500 amplifier which we just found out will
be approved by the FCC very soon. Val, LZ1VB from Acom in Bulgaria will be
with us to answer your questions as well. In addition to the 1500, Val is
bringing the first example of the new optional controller for the 2000A
amplifier which will be operational in our booth.
Also, for the first time ever in the USA, we will be showing the new OM
Power OM2500A fully automatic amplifier, its manual tune brother, the
OM2500HF, and a brand new solid state 2m kW linear, the OM1002.
In addition to these amplifiers, we will be showing many Array Solutions
products including our 4x8Pak 4-radio, 8 antenna switching system, a new
prototype dual-port VNA, our very successful Power Master II wattmeter
(which was a prototype last year in Dayton) and others. We will have
products from Rig Expert, SSB Electronics, Hofi, Prosistel, W3NQN, and
others.
A special treat is that Bob Clunn, W5BIG, the designer of our antenna
analyzers and author of their software will be with us to demonstrate our
analyzers and answer your questions.
Tom Schmenger, DF2BO and his wife Diana from OptiBeam will also be with us
again along with the most popular OptiBeam antenna model (the OB9-5) on
display "flying" above our booth.
And of course, your Array Solutions team, Jay WX0B, Sharon N5CK, and Bob
W5OV will be on hand to demonstrate our products and greet our friends.
We hope to see you there, but if you can't get to Dayton - take advantage of
the "Dayton Deal"!
The ACOM 1500 is
based on the proven design of very popular of ACOM 1000. It is the same
physical size and general appearance as the 1000 but more powerful. The tube
is one 4CX1000A and the power supply is beefed up to provide 1500w PEP
output on 160 through 6m. Carrier modes are recommended to be run at 1200w,
The other differences from the 1000 are 3 switch-able antenna outputs, a
larger and easier to read LCD display, and an LED TX indicator. FCC approval
is pending. (Click on photos for larger image)

If you have read any of the major amateur periodicals over
the last decade or so, you have likely read more than one how-to article or
product review written by Phil Salas, AD5X. Phil is a brilliant engineer and
has contributed a great deal to amateur radio through his design work,
product revision engineering, and his practical approach to product design.
He has worked on numerous amateur products for several manufacturers, and
Array Solutions is proud to have Phil on our team. Phil is shown here in his
home "lab" which is actually in his living room. This is not a domestic
issue, as it can all be concealed by closing folding doors on either side.
Phil's active on all bands, mostly on CW.
As our long-time customers know, our website was one of the first amateur
radio vendor websites on the Internet. It is clearly out-dated from a
technology perspective.
Array Solutions is developing a new, leading edge
technology website that will be tightly integrated with our preferred
shipping vendors (UPS, primarily) so that precise and actual shipping
amounts will be reflected when you place your order rather than an estimated
and often very inaccurate amount as you get today. We always charge for the
actual ship cost.
Q: What has caused the shipping estimate to be such an issue?
A: Well, there are many reasons but the main one is the escalating costs
of shipping that seems to increase on a nearly daily basis and the new,
creative ways that shipping vendors have developed to charge us more. One
component of this is the large variance in fuel costs which comprises nearly
50% of the shipping cost. The other issue that prevents us from offering
"flat rate" shipping like huge online vendors like Amazon.com and others is
that we are not able to negotiate as those much larger companies do.
Our old (current) web page was based on a fixed amount of cost per lb of
product, and this model no longer works as many variances have been added to
the way the shipping cost is calculated. There is a "fuel surcharge" that is
added to every shipment and this is calculated based on the distance that
the package has to be transported and obviously, this will vary for every
customer. In addition, there are other factors involved of rural "delivery
area surcharges" and commercial destination discounts that our website does not
have any ability to factor in. Our new website will handle these situations
properly and will tell you precisely what your shipping charge will be at
the time you place your order.
In addition to being completely accurate, you will be able to see what
other shipping options are and what they cost - second day, overnight, USPS
Priority Mail etc. (which is not always less expensive), Express Mail
Service and perhaps some others. We have a good rate program with UPS so
this will most often present the most economical shipping options to you.
This will be true for our international customers also and today, we have no
ability whatsoever to estimate shipping costs for international customers.
The new website will provide an accurate shipping cost!

Array Solutions
did something new in our Dayton display
this year.
We devoted some of our space to a charity
called "Patriot Paws". You may have heard of them in the
national media recently.
We are contributing to this worthwhile
cause, and we ask that you consider
supporting them too.
Patriot
Paws trains and provides service dogs for the benefit of disabled
American Veterans in order to help restore their physical and
emotional independence, and to provide a service for other
Americans with mobile disabilities.

"You see, wire
telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in
New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand
this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals
here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is
no cat. "

Did you know Array Solutions Baluns
are purchased by the US Dept. of Defense?
Large Stacked Antenna Array for Army 3rd Special Forces at Ft. Bragg
The antenna system features stacked phased large log periodic
antennas which are controlled by the Array Solutions StackMatch, four long wires and
three NVIS antennas also controlled by a custom control system using two
StackMatches and a SixPak RF Matrix. Tower is 120 feet tall with two star guy
brackets. All LPDA Antennas rotate individually.
I never thought I'd place first in Sweepstakes, but the WX0B
StackMatches have certainly made my single tower, stacked tri-band quads
play to their highest potential. Being ale to instantly choose a 75' or
40' antenna height as well as phase them both together, gives me plenty of
options for matching my system to contest propagation. The StackMatch can
also grow with me if I ever move to a "real" antenna farm because the
StackMatch easily handles phasing for 3 antenna arrays. I can't wait!"
we recommend as the professionals you need for tower installation as well
as antenna, switching and phasing systems and rotator work. They are
experts with our products and know how to test the whole system.
